WWII 1945 8th Army Signed Letter, Envelope & Patch General Eichelberger. 1945 Signed letter from Lt. General Eichelberger to the recipient who requested a shoulder patch. The envelope is censored signed by Eichelberger. Overall, excellent condition. Information found on the internet: Robert Lawrence Eichelberger (9 March 1886 -26 September 1961) was a general officer in the US Army who commanded the Eighth Army in the Southwest Pacific Area during WWII. On October 4, 1944 Eichelberger was promoted to the rank of Major General and became the commander of the 8th Army for the liberation of the Philippines and participated in the landings in the southern Philippines campaign landing at Mindoro, Panay, Negros, Cebu and Bohol. On September 2, 1945 Eichelberger was part of the surrender ceremony with other American and Allied military leaders aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
