WWII US Fighter Aces James Swett, John Landers & Bob Layher Signed Photos. These photos do not come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). These signed photo are copies of the actual period photo. The signatures are original. The approximate size is 8 x 10 inches. Good overall condition. Colonel James Elms Swett (June 15, 1920 – January 18, 2009) was a legendary United States Marine Corps fighter pilot and flying ace during World War II. He is best known for becoming an "ace in a day" during his very first combat mission, an extraordinary feat that earned him the Medal of Honor. Colonel John Dave Landers (June 23, 1920 – September 12, 1989) was one of the most distinguished and highly recognized American fighter aces and leaders of World War II. He is uniquely celebrated as one of the few pilots to achieve "Ace" status in both the Pacific and European theaters of operation. Robert F. "Bob" Layher (September 3, 1916 – November 17, 2006) was a notable American fighter pilot who served during World War II, most famously as a member of the First American Volunteer Group (AVG), better known as the "Flying Tigers".
