Brigadier General Clarence Emil "Bud" Anderson (January 13, 1922 – May 17, 2024) was a legendary United States Air Force officer and the last surviving American "triple ace" from World War II. Renowned for his extraordinary skill, aggression, and perfect tactical record, his lifelong contributions shaped the course of American military aviation. During World War II, Charles Rankin "Charlie" Bond Jr. (April 22, 1915 – August 18, 2009) was a distinguished American fighter pilot who became famous as an ace with the American Volunteer Group (AVG), widely known as the Flying Tigers. He later rose to the rank of Major General in the United States Air Force. Lieutenant General Gerald Walter Johnson (July 10, 1919 – September 9, 2002) was a highly decorated USAF officer and a notable World War II flying ace. During the war, he served as a fighter pilot in the European Theater, achieving distinction as the very first ace of the famed 56th Fighter Group (part of the Eighth Air Force).
