WWII 1945 7th Air Force Signed Letter, Envelope & Patch General Douglass. 1945 letter from Major General Robert W. Douglass fulfilling a requesting a shoulder patch. Overall, excellent condition. Information found on the internet: Major General Robert W. Douglass, Jr graduated from West Point in 1922 and entered flight training in 1924. In the following years he was assigned various flying and staff duties including overseas posts in England, the Panama Canal Zone, and Hawaii. When the war broke out he was the Operations Officer for the Third Air Force, responsible for the defense of the southeastern United States. In September 1942 he was assigned command of the Seventh Fighter Command based in Hawaii. In April 1944 he was promoted to Commander of the 7th Air Force in the Central Pacific. He retired from the Air Force in 1957.
