Description
Douglas World Cruiser DWC #2 Chicago Airplane Original Fabric & Picture. There were only 5 of these aircrafts built for the Army Air Service. In 1924, this particular aircraft the Douglas World Cruiser Chicago was only one of two aircrafts to make the first flight around the world. The U.S. Army Air Service commissioned four airplanes for the flight: Seattle, Chicago, Boston, and New Orleans. Only the Chicago and New Orleans completed the flight. A nice piece of aviation history! Approximate size is 16 x 21 in frame. The piece is 14.5 x 19.5. The fabric piece is 2 x 2 inches. The condition show foxing throughout the piece. There is clear tape on the reverse to hold the piece inside the frame.
