WWI Medal group to Ivan L. Coyner of Huntington, West Virginia who was a member of the 26th Infantry, and then the 3rd Machine Gun Bn. Of the 1st Infantry Division in the AEF in France. Includes his government issued medals from 1975 as he was never issued a set after 1932, and these were his only set. Engraved Silver Star and Purple Heart (numbered) with boxes, WWI Victory and Occupation medals (crimp brooch), and split brooch 1st Div. medal. Comes with the original 30+ year old sales ad from a Harris catalog noting that it came from his family and was his only medal issue. Includes original document detailing his SS in that he remained at his machine gun and kept it in action under heavy fire although three times buried by large shells. When his gun was completely destroyed, he seized a rifle and stayed at his post. Comes with the original 1975 issued certificates for each.
