On 15 Feb. 1944 in Italy, he left the cover of a ditch and crawled 50 yards towards and enemy machine gun firing at his platoon. He was recommended for a Soldiers Medal on 19 Nov. 1944 near Etival, France which was apparently not approved. Comes with a numbered Silver Star (102658), numbered Purple Heart (363491), Bronze Star, Croix de Guerre, campaign medals, patches, ribbons, and custom made Combat Infantry Badge. Comes with a copy of his Silver Star Citation in General Orders #175) as well as some research on him. The display case does not come with this group.
