Description
Original government issued engraved WWII Purple Heart Medal to Pfc. Stanley W. Kaval of Cook County, Illinois. He was a member of the 5th Ranger Battalion, made the landing on D-Day and fought his way through France until he was tragically Killed in Action in July 1944. Accompanying the Purple Heart is a copy of his Individual Deceased Personnel File detailing the circumstances of his death as well as administrative information about the process thereafter. Only 115 members of the 5th Ranger Battalion were KIA during WWII.
