Description
WWII original government issued engraved Purple Heart Medal to Pfc. James J. Lawton of Syracuse, New York. He entered the Army in August 1943, went overseas as an Infantryman with the 339th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division in March 1944, and was Killed in Action near Firenzuola, Italy on September 17, 1944. He had previously earned a Purple Heart for wounds received in May 1944 was in a hospital for a month before returning to combat duty. Lot comes with some pages of research.
