Description
Instrument of Surrender of the Japanese and Japanese-Controlled Armed Forces in the Philippine Islands to the Commanding General United States Army Forces, Western Pacific. This is a copy of the instrument with which all Japanese controlled forces in the Philippine Islands surrendered in World War II. It was signed at Camp John Hay, Luzon, Philippine Islands by General Tomoyuki Yamashita, Vice Admiral Denhici Okochi, and Major General Edmond H. Leavey. This official copy of the Japanese surrender in the Philippines, was signed by General Yamashita the, "Tiger of Malaysia, " who was later tried and hanged for war crimes. Approximate size is 20 x 15 inches. Nice condition. The reverse of the document can not be photographed because it is encased in a plastic wrap for protection.
