Description
Set of two WWI Bavarian pilot’s drinking steins. (1) 8 1/4inch tall polished wood barrel shaped body with one piece tiered lid having a relief carved raised winged propeller on a shield surrounded by floral work. All wood thumb lift and handle. Copper base. Resin inside lining has dried. 5 7/8 inch diameter. (2) Similar to above but 5 3/4" tall. Relief carved tiered lid. 6 1/8" x 3 5/8" original photo of uniformed original owner – Lt. Ludwig Hermann (wearing Bavarian Pilot’s Badge, 1st Class Iron Cross and Wound Badge) with friend (wearing Observer’s Badge, Iron Cross and Wound Badge). With dog mascot (wearing a wing – prop on collar). Reverse has penciled name of owner and "FL. 60 Abtl. 1916". Lt. Hermann served at Verdun in 1916. A rare set of WWI field used aviation steins.
