WWII Fighter Aces Tom Blackburn, Bill Birch & Bill Bower Signed Photos. These photos do not come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). These signed photo are copies of the actual period photo. The signatures are original. The approximate size is 8 x 10 inches. Good overall condition. Captain John Thomas "Tom" Blackburn was a highly distinguished United States Navy aviator, World War II flying ace, and the legendary founding commander of Fighting Squadron 17 (VF-17), famously known as the "Jolly Rogers". William Birch was a highly decorated World War II veteran best known for his participation in the historic Doolittle Raid on April 18, 1942. Colonel William Marsh "Bill" Bower (February 13, 1917 – January 10, 2011) was a highly decorated American World War II aviator who served as a command pilot during the legendary Doolittle Raid.
