Description
RARE 1946 First Day Signed Cover (FDC). This cover features the signatures in ink of Charles Sweeney (Pilot Bockscar ), Steve Ritchie (Vietnam ACE Pilot), and Paul Tibbets (Pilot Enola Gay). Pilot Charles Sweeney flew Bockscar carrying the Fat Man atomic bomb to the Japanese city of Nagasaki on 9 August 1945. Brigadier General Steve Ritchie is the only US Air Force pilot to become an ace during the Vietnam War. He achieved this distinction by shooting down five enemy MiG-21 fighters in 1972 while flying the F-4 Phantom II, making him the last American pilot to achieve ace status. Pilot Paul Tibbets was the pilot of the Enola Gay that dropped a Little Boy atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Overall, great condition. There is no Certificate of Authenticity (COA) that comes with this item.
