Paul Conger was born May 3, 1918 in Los Angleles, California, Paul Conger. He joined the Army Reserve and qualified as a pilot officer on July 3, 1942, at Kelly Field, Texas. Assigned to the 61st Fighter Squadron / 56th Fighter Group, he embarked for Great Britain and in February 1943 had 382 flight hours including 234 of training. On March 6, 1944, he was wounded in combat during a Ramrod mission to Berlin. From January 20, 1945, he served as commander of the 63rd Fighter Squadron retaining this position until March 19 and carrying out a total of 168 combat missions during which he achieved 12 confirmed victories including 1 in collaboration for which he received the Distinguished Service Cross, 5 DFC and 15 Air Medals. He left the service on September 2, 1946. Conger died on August 20, 1994. The approximate size is 8 x 10 inches. This signed photo is a copy of an actual period photo. The signature is original.
