Description

WWII Era Home Front Civil Defense CD RARE Sniff Kit. All (5) jars are present. It looks like the previous owner removed the original labels and replaced them with his own. Made by the Northan Warren Corporation. Excellent used condition. From the internet. A civil defense sniff kit was a WWII era training tool used by civilian defense personnel to identify chemical warfare agents by their characteristic smells. These kits, like the "Sniff Kit" from the Northam Warren Corporation in the U.S., contained simulated gases or chemical sachets that civil defense wardens could safely sample to learn the distinct odors of agents such as mustard gas, phosgene, and Lewisite. The goal was to enable prompt and proper identification of gases in the event of a chemical attack during wartime.
