Disney Steamboat Willie Mickey Pencil Concept Color Drawing. Drawn and hand signed by cartoon Illustrator Len Smith. A certificate of authenticity does not accompany this piece. The piece measures approximately 9 x 11 inches. Very good overall condition. Len Smith walked into Hanna-Barbera with a cardboard portfolio and started work the same day. After Hanna-Barbera, Smith went to Disney where he designed Toontown for Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Smith went on to Disney TV working on the Emmy winning series, Winnie the Pooh. He designed the main characters for Tailspin and Bonkers and many in The Little Mermaid series. Smith then went to Disney Consumer products as assistant art director on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. He designed the mascot for the Mighty Ducks hockey team. Smith started a consumer products division at Film Roman studio (The Simpsons, Garfield, Bobbys World). At Film Roman, Smith designed the mascot for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Later on he worked for Mattel Toys as a staff designer in the Infant-Preschool division where he created their entire puzzle line. Smith is a freelance artist.
