Robert “Duke” Hedman (December 19, 1916-May 24,1995) was a flying ace who flew in the Pacific Theater with the AVG Flying Tigers. He was credited with 6 Victories. He became an Ace in a day with 5. Hedman, a member of the Flying Tigers, became the first American ace when he shot down five enemy aircraft over Rangoon, Burma, on Christmas Day 1941. Family records indicate he did this in less than 15 minutes and accomplished it in part by flying into a formation of Japanese bombers. The approximate size is 8 x 10 inches. This signed photo is a copy of an actual period photo. The signature is original. Good overall condition.
