Description
Original theater made white uniform named to Major General James Clyde Fry. Features Sterling rank insignia, U.S. collar insignia, Army Staff Identification Badge, and a wide 8-place ribbon bar. Some devices / ribbons may have been replaced. Major General James Clyde Fry was a decorated U.S. Army officer whose distinguished 35-year career spanned World War II and the Korean War. A graduate of West Point, Fry commanded the 350th Infantry Regiment of the 88th Blue Devil Infantry Division during the Italian Campaign in World War II, earning the Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism at Mount Battaglia in 1944. Known for leading from the front lines, his fearless leadership inspired troops and earned him the nickname Fearless Fosdick. In Korea, Fry commanded the 2nd Infantry Division during critical combat operations. Over his career, Fry received numerous accolades, including the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Purple Heart (4), Legion of Merit, and foreign honors such as France’s Croix de Guerre and Legion of Honor. He also contributed to military strategy as an advocate for readiness and authored Combat Soldier (1968), chronicling his wartime experiences. Post-retirement, Fry played a key role in modernizing Civil War reenactments and served on national defense boards. He was buried with honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
