Description
First Lt. Pilot John N. Fredd was Killed in Action on July 19, 1944 in the European Theater of Operations. He was attached to the 720th Bomber Squadron, 450th Bomber Group (Heavy), 15th Air Force. On July 19, 1944 Fredd was on the crew of the B-24G Liberator #42-78284 when they were hit by enemy flak which started a catostrophic fire in engine #3. The plane crashed near Fuerstenfeldbrueck, Germany. Five men were killed in the air or the crash. Six men survived and were captured and held as POWs. You will receive 2 Purple Heart Certificates and Truman Died in Service accolade. Both PH certificates are stamp embossed and the accolade has the Officer serial Number stamped on the reverse of the accolade. We do not have his awarded Purple Heart or Air Medal. Overall, good condition for its age. These pieces will be shipped rolled in a mailing tube.
