Summer 2024 Militaria & Collectibles Auction
Lot 225O:
Description
Unique WWII – Korean War Group named to Francis E. Rogers, who based on his records bounded between Master Sergeant and Officer rank back and forth prior to, during, and after WWII and into the Korean War. He was a company commander and then Battalion commander in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division, and then acting Regimental XO for the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division in April 1945. He was reverted to enlisted status and then served as a CID and Counter Intelligence Corps Agent. He served in Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division, French Foreign Legion Battalion and was also a Ranger. He would earn a Silver Star, four Purple Hearts, Bronze Star with Valor and clusters, and numerous French Medals. The medals are mounted to a hardboard via glue, and some of the pins are partially clipped and stuck on, but all components could likely safely be removed. The Purple Heart and Bronze Star are engraved to him, and also comes with some original documents and ID cards. Interestingly, in 1954, while still a Master Sergeant, he was arrested for a Bank Robbery of $2,603.
