Description

Very complete Out of the Woodwork group to a WWII – Korean War 82nd Airborne / 187th RCT Officer. He served in Sicily, Rome Arno, and Naples Foggia with the 82nd Airborne, 517th PIR, and was seriously wounded in Italy in 1943 by shrapnel to the extent that he spent time in and out of hospitals until early 1944 when he was discharged to limited duty, despite his own objections. He would continue to recover and serve in Korea with the 187th RCT. The group includes his post WWII engraved Purple Heart, Bronze Star medals, sterling and Japanese made jump wings, wrist compass, insignia, ovals, ribbons, medals, airborne patches, early war Fort Benning jump certificate, medical record, souvenir documents of Italy, and much more. The family kept some of his original documents and all of his photos, so there are COPIES of those included. The photos are glossy copies, with many duplicates.
