WWII Calm Before The Storm Signed Print Pilots Gabreski & Zemke, Artist Laurier. Limited Edition of 900 prints (273/900) signed by the artist and two World War Two aces of the 56th Fighter Group – Francis "Gabby" Gabreski and Hubert Hub Zemke. Early on a summer morning in 1944, ground crews prepare P-47 Thunderbolts of the 56th Fighter Group for their next mission. Based primarily at Halesworth and Boxted, England, the 56th FG was the only U.S. Fighter Group to fly the P-47 exclusively throughout the war. Known as Zemkes Wolfpack, the 56th achieved great success against the Luftwaffe with their massive fighters, with some of the highest scoring U.S. aces coming from their ranks. Some of Germanys top fighter aces fell to the Wolfpack in the war. This piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. Approximate size is 17 x 25 inches. This item is in nice displayable condition.
