Description
WWII USN Navy KIA Submarine USS Robalo Purple Heart Medal & Documents. Named to Stanley J. Russell Fireman 2/c. Russell died on July 2, 1944. From the internet regarding the USS Robalo: On 2 July, a contact report stated Robalo had sighted a Fuso-class battleship, with air cover and two destroyers for escort, just east of Borneo. No other messages were ever received from the submarine, and when she did not return from patrol, she was presumed lost. You will receive a named Purple Heart and a Hilborn-Hamburger Submarine Combat Award (sterling) pin back, Citation for distinguished service signed by Rear Admiral R.W. Christie and Submarine Combat Patrol Insignia Information. Good overall condition. Great group!
