Description
WWII Uniform, cap, and briefcase of Major General Thomas D. Finley, Commanding General of the 89th Infantry Division. A native of Annapolis, MD, he graduated USMA at West Point in 1916, serving with the 7th Engineers, 5th Infantry Division in France from 1918-1919. He became a Brigadier General in 1942 serving as Assistant Division Commander for the 89th, and then CG upon his promotion to Major General in 1943. He served as the Commander until 1945, then as Commanding General of XVI Corps. He retired in 1946. The uniform itself is Paris made and tailored (no name inside). Note the early detailed General Staff badge. It is pin back and unmarked. Stars on the uniform and cap are bullion, and the ribbon bars are sewn on.
