Summer 2021 Militaria & Collectibles Auction
Lot 87:
Description
Original historic US Army QM issued 1st New York Cavalry, G Troop Guidon, WWI Dog Tag, Cavalry Field Regulations, Cavalry insignia pin, and souvenir French flag from Sgt. James F. Engert, a member of G Troop, which later became the 106th Machine Gun Battalion in the AEF, and where he served in France, being gassed at least once. The lot comes with a handwritten bio of him. The guidon is the prize here as it would have accompanied the troops on the Mexican Border Campaign that they served on prior to going into WWI. It is tattered and well worn from use, but historic nonetheless. The tag inside is mostly faded, but present.
