Huge group to two brothers- Pfc. Edward Solomon, 311th Inf. Regt, 78th ID. He was Killed In Action on January 30th, 1945 by a sniper’s bullet. His brother, S/Sgt Frank Solomon of the 94th ID was wounded in action. Both were of Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania. A week after this letter was written to Edward, he was killed and it was returned to her, unread. "Hi Ed, Certainly’s been a long time since I’ve last heard from you. Today I’ve received two letters from Frank, one from Walter Bart, and one from the Adjutant General’s Office in Washington informing me that Frank is improving normally. The card was written Jan. 10th. Sure am worried and scared now that he’ll be going back into action soon. I do hope they send him home. I hope he cooks up some story so that they’ll let him stay at the hospital longer. How are you Sonn? It sure is awful to think of where you’re at. I pray everything is going well with you." The group includes the officially engraved Purple Heart Medal in Box to Edward, letters from him, some photos, newspaper articles, as well as a good bit of material from his brother to include the Western Union telegram notifying his family of his status as wounded in action.
