Description
WWII POW Bataan Death March Survivor Abie Abraham Signed Photo. Abie Abraham (1913-2012) first enlisted in the Navy in 1932, and then enlisted in the Army in 1934. While stationed in the Philippines during WWII, Abraham was captured and endured the Bataan Death March. A POW, he survived three and a half years of imprisonment to be rescued by the 6th Rangers. At the request of General Douglas MacArthur, Abraham stayed behind to help disinter and identify bodies, ensuring that they were honored with proper burial rites. After returning stateside, Abraham worked as a recruiter and was stationed in Germany for a time before he retired from the military in 1955. He is the author of two books: Ghost of Bataan Speaks (1971) and Oh God Where Are You? (1997). There is no certificate of authenticity that comes with this item. Approximate size is 8.5 x 11 inches. Nice overall condition.
