Description
WWII Paper US Blood Chits For Russian Military Mission Crew and Card. This item is a paper US Flag Blood Chit carried by a US Army Air Forces airman or pilot for a mission to the Soviet Union during World War II. The noticeable exception to the use of cloth or leather as the material which chits were made from were the paper chits for use by crews shuttling lend-lease aircraft to Russia or for use by crews involved in Operation Frantic. These paper blood chits were printed in Russian with the following statement: "I am American. Please communicate my particulars to American Military Mission in Moscow." The paper chits were designed to be folded in half a few times where the American flag was exposed. It would then be put in a pocket or placed into a plastic pouch which could be worn around the neck, or buttoned to a pocket flap. This blood chit come with an index card with a statement that needs to be shown to Russians. Excellent condition.
