Description
1930s Japanese Fan Signed by US Military Attaches to Japan & Saki Cup. Written on the box this piece came with is the following: A Japanese fan; opens to reveal 21 signatures of persons repatriated from Japanese custody in 1942 aboard the ship Gripsholm. One signer has dated (25 August 1942) their signature. Signers can be researched, include the wife of the U.S. Naval Attaché in Tokyo; and a New York Herald-Tribune reported based in Hong Kong. A very rare piece of history. Also, included in the box are other names written on individual paper from the consignor who did the research, The other item is a decorative saki cup in the shape of helmet. These two items came together. Nice condition for their ages.
