Description
Spectacular medal group spanning Pre-WWI to WWII of US Army Colonel James McNary, who was the oldest active US Officer in WWII, having served 61 years in uniform. He served in the Ordnance and Quartermaster Departments, notably as an inventor of a knuckle fighting knife, experimental liberty bell helmet, and aided in facilitating oil pipelines in North Africa during WWII. Included are his medals to include a government hand engraved War Department Exceptional Civilian Service Medal, numbered Mexican Border Service Medal, WWI Victory with Bars, French and other nations medals, and copies of some patents he held as well as research.
