Description
Named WWII – Korean War Major General William Gillmore Medal grouping consisting of his mounted three place full size medals: Numbered WWII Distinguished Service Medal, Government WWII hand engraved Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star Medal. Group comes with some loose rank insignia, copies of research, and a Good Conduct Medal. In WWII he commanded the 11th Armored Division Artillery, 1st Armored Division Artillery in Italy, 101st Division Artillery, briefly commanded the 101st Airborne, and after the war through the Korean War commanded the Artillery in the 82nd Airborne, 11th Airborne, 7th Infantry Division, and IX Corps. He later commanded the 4th Armored Division and XV Corps.
