Description
Bendix Aviation Bubble Sextant US Army-Navy designation Type AN-5851-1. Bubble sextant Type AN 5851-1 with altitude averaging device for use on aircrafts. Made by Bendix Aviation Corporation, Teterboro, New Jersey USA. Instructions for use with and without averaging device on two metal plates screwed onto instrument, one plate a continuation of the other. Unfortunately, these plates are barely readable (see pictures). These sextants were used by the US Army Air Corps and the Navy in the later years of World War II. This is a complicated instrument so there is no way we can check out the operation. The box container stands approximately 10 inches tall x 11 x 11 inches. This unit weighs approximately 22 pounds. This will be sold As Is. Look over all pictures to determine the condition of this item.
