Description

Original WWI era group to Sgt. Carl H. Thomas of Massachusetts who served in Co. K, 60th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in France. After the war and through at least the 1930s, he was a Massachusetts State Trooper. The group includes his Mexican Service Medal (numbered 11330) in its original matching box (number traces to him), his split brooch Purple Heart Medal with hand engraving and number 4050 in its original matching numbered box of issue, numbered Silver Star (split brooch / not engraved), Marksmanship medals with hand engraved years on the respective bars (1914 – 1918), City of Somerville, Mass WWI Medal on card, VFW medal on card, French Croix de Guerre with Bronze Star, Verdun Medal in original titled box and envelope mailed to him accompanied by a transmittal letter in French, three custom made ribbon bars with numerous foreign awards and SIX campaign stars on the WWI Victory Ribbon, a 40/8 Medal, and a Harvard Medal. Comes with a copy of his WWI transport roster.
