WWI – WWII medal group from Oregon native Brigadier General James S. Gay. He served in Battery B, 147th Regiment, 57th Brigade, 32nd Infantry Division during WWI. The group includes his numbered (36621) and hand engraved Purple Heart split brooch medal. Also his WWI Victory Medal with Aisne-Marne, Oise-Aisne, Meuse-Argonne, and Defensive Sector bars, Oregon State WWI Victory Medal, Mexican Border Service Medal (numbered 14375 and confirmed to J.S. Gay), French Croix de Guerre with Bronze Star, Sons of American Revolution Medal (engraved), WWII Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal, 40 & 8 Cefide Gare Medal, Artillery and unit crests and more as shown. Comes with a handwritten letter from 1993 talking about these items.
