Summer 2021 Militaria & Collectibles Auction
Lot 129:
Description
WWII Uniform with provenance to Brigadier General Sidney R. Hinds, Commanding General of Combat Command B, 2nd Armored Division in WWII, and recipient of FOUR Silver Stars, among numerous other awards. The jacket features all original insignia from him to include sterling pin back BG stars, a theater made PUC, clutch back ribbon bars, patches, etc. His name is stamped above the tailor label. The General sold this to a noted GO collector in the 80’s, and took a photo together, as well as one of the uniform on display in the collector’s war room. In 1990, the collector sold it (hand written letter included). It was again sold in 2007, and then to me in 2017. Note that Gen. Hinds wore his PH/Army Commendation Ribbons in the Post 1985 configuration, but as you can see from his period photos, he always wore it that way even just after WWII! Comes with a large binder full of copied research, photos, biographical information, provenance letter and photos with the General and original collector owner, and a metal plaque made by the first owner after the General.
