Spanish American War SAW Battleship U.S. Maine Piece of Charred Burned Wood. The box reads, A piece of the battleship Maine. Brought by Walter Scott when he returned home from the Army. From basic research done by this auction house, this Walter Scott could possibly be the one attached to the 1st New York Volunteer Infantry, 10th New York National Guard in the Spanish American War. Size of wood is 1.5 x 3.5 inches. The box is approximately 3 x 6 inches.
