Description
Coast Guard USCG Named Officer Frame Painted Portrait Picture. Named to Francis Gauvry. Painting is on canvas backing. Size: 21 x 27 inches. Nice condition. Information found from the internet: Francis A. “Frank” Gauvry was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Coast Guard aboard the U.S.S. Wakefield, a troopship, crossing the North Atlantic forty-four times, and the Pacific twice. During the D-Day Invasion, he was temporarily assigned to an L.S.T., and was among the second wave of assault vessels at Omaha Beach. He was discharged at the Cape May Naval Air Station (now the Coast Guard Training Center). Nice condition.
